The German Navy has contracted the ARGE F125 Consortium with its industrial leader, ThyssenKrupp Marine Systems to build four F125 frigates and to supply the training system for the vessels. Knowing the customer's training requirements, ThyssenKrupp MarineSystems has determined that a traditional training approach will not meet the Navy's challenging 21st Century requirements and has put forward a 100% synthetic training solution for consideration.

Based on a serious games approach, this training solution will allow each ship's company of 110 individuals to simultaneously participate in life-like, online training scenarios using a standard desktop computer with an internet connection.

ViSTIS® is an advanced training product that allows flexible single and multiplayer scenario based learning in a photorealistic 3D environment. Technically accurate with integrated simulations and context sensitive access to relevant information, ViSTIS® scales to meet customer requirements and securely delivers training to any platform in a distributed learning framework. ViSTIS® organizes and monitors the full learning process using integrated learning and content management, while motivating and rewarding students with the latest, future-proof serious gaming technology. ViSTIS® offers knowledge management and intuitive authoring capabilities allowing trainers and students to adapt scenarios and share their experiences.

ViSTIS® thus reduces the cost and time dedicated to training at the expense of the ship's operational effectiveness. ViSTIS® means increased operational availability and enhanced combat effectiveness.
