With its technological competence and innovations, ThyssenKrupp Marine Systems (TKMS) is one of the leading forces in global shipbuilding.

The long-established yards and companies of ThyssenKrupp Marine Systems, combined with their know-how, deliver the highest quality civil and military products and particularly for the naval and maritime services.

As a key component of Thyssen Krupp Marine Systems, TKMS Blohm+Voss Nordseewerke is the naval surface vessel business in Hamburg and Emden.

The product portfolio of this lead company is especially broad-based, including a wealth of naval surface vessel types as well as submarines, container shipping and specialized craft. More than 160 naval vessels, ranging from frigates and corvettes, patrol boats and minesweepers to auxiliary vessels and special-purpose craft have been built by these shipyards since 1980 alone, being delivered to navies across the entire globe.

A large proportion of this work has involved the construction of MEKO frigates and corvettes.

Apart from frigates and corvettes, the shipyards of the TKMS Group have also seen the construction of a number of smaller naval vessels, including a variety of patrol boats for both domestic and overseas customers.

TKMS Blohm + Voss Nordseewerke is also positioned strongly for merchant shipbuilding and special-purpose craft. Examples of special-purpose vessels recently built include the "Vasco da Gama", the world's largest suction dredger as well as the SWATH research vessel "Planet", for the German Agency for Defence Technology and Procurement. However, the current jewel in the crown is the F125 program.
